The "Nurturing Sustainable Futures: SDGs, COP28, and Design Thinking Exploration Workshop" is scheduled to unfold from June 10th to June 14th, catering to students in grades 9 and 10. This transformative workshop aims to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainability principles, and key terminologies relevant to COP28, adopting an engaging and interactive pedagogical approach to encourage active participation and immersive learning experiences.
The workshop, spearheaded by experienced facilitators Himanshi, Ekanto, and Rajni, unfolds over five enriching days, each tailored to specific themes. The journey begins with "Introduction to SDGs and Sustainability," led by facilitator Himanshi. Participants embark on a comprehensive exploration of the 17 SDGs, engaging in discussions on their local relevance. Day two, facilitated by Himanshi, takes participants on a captivating "Journey through COP Conferences." Through storytelling, charades, and quiz shows, students gain insights into COP28 terminologies, fostering a connection to global environmental initiatives.
Day three focuses on "Linking SDGs with COP28 Goals," delving into case studies and expert insights from Dr. Rajni Kaushik on ecosystem interlinkages. Facilitators guide participants through group activities aligning SDGs with COP28 goals, leading to insightful group presentations. Day four, led by Ekanto and Himanshi, shifts gears to "Defining Problem Statement through Design Thinking." Through guided activities, participants develop problem-solving skills related to SDGs in their communities and engage in citizen science projects.
The final day, "Action Planning and Citizen Science Engagement," empowers participants to reflect on their learning experiences and create action plans using a design thinking approach. The workshop concludes with a commitment pledge session, allowing participants to share their dedication through creative expressions. Through this initiative, the workshop aims to plant the seeds of responsible environmental stewardship, nurturing a generation steadfastly committed to effecting positive and enduring impacts in the realm of sustainability.
